Oscar Fashion Favorites!

Last night I watched the Oscars over at Jeff and Alissa’s. Jeff may have gotten annoyed at Alissa and I and our ongoing fashion commentary, but isn’t that mostly what the Oscars are for, unless you are an actual nominee? I think so! I found a lot of the dresses OK, and we decided we like contrast over pale dresses on pale people, but there were a few I thought were really great. Must be such a hard decision to decide what to wear when you are choosing from literally every dress, ever! Here are my top 5.

#5. Sally Field

#5. Sally Field

I am not sure exactly why I like this, but I think I mostly like it because it seems like a good dress for Sally Field to wear. I like the gathered bodice, the long sleeves, and the ruffles on the bottom. And it was a color! I think it looked nice.

#4. Stacy Keibler

The picture of this dress isnt super stunning, but I thought on tv it was really cool. It was sparkly and I like how you kinda cant tell if its covered in sequins, or like, nailheads. The shapes on the dress are really cool too, and of course it’s very flattering. Way to outshine George Clooney!

#3. Jessica Chastain

At first I didnt think this dress was all that great, because the color kinda just looked like brown. But then I saw the beading and I was truly amazed. I would love to see this dress in person! All those tiny lines are lines of beads, and from a front view you can also see all the cool shapes the beads were sewn in. Really great. Plus, I suppose the color does work well with her hair.

#2. Naomi Watts

#2. Naomi Watts

Oh my God I love this dress! I love the sparkle, I love the cap sleeve, I love the modern cut out, I also love her hair and make-up. I love the shape on her figure and how is flares out just a tiny bit at the bottom. I love the waistline. I just think it is so pretty. In fact, it might be my # 1 favorite, I’m not sure. It’s a toss up!

#1. Jennifer Hudson

#1. Jennifer Hudson

This was the first dress I saw on the red carpet that really got me excited. Firstly, I think this dark dark blue/grey looks really good on her, and I like her hair with it. Again, I love long sleeves, and I really love how the clusters of sequins made a pattern, instead of just being solid sequins. It was very flattering on her, and really stood out on the red carpet. Loved it so much! Way to go, J. Hud!

Overall, there were a lot of good dresses, some odd ones, some kinda boring, many that were too pale. And then there was my least favorite of the night.

#100,000. Anne Hathaway

#100,000. Anne Hathaway

UHG! Come on! So many things I disliked about this dress, and I kept finding more the longer the show dragged on. First of all, I think I know someone who wore this to prom in 1999. I really didnt care for the pale, pale pink color, or the satin fabric. I hate how the top looks like a bib. I HATE the darts at the bust that looked like giant nipples. I hate the wide waist. (I do like the necklace). But most of all….

Ick.

Ick.

I hate the back! I hate that stupid tie in the middle! It isnt even flattering, at all! Its almost the same color as her skin. Seriously, Anne, why?? It makes me so mad when people who get to where awesome, amazing, incredible clothes, wear something like this. YOU HAVE DISAPPOINTED ME ON SO MANY LEVELS.

….

Anyhow. Who were your favorites? Who did you hate? How did you feel about Anne?

  1. Didn’t like Anne’s either, but I didn’t like Sally Fields either! My fav – Jessica Chastain and Halle Berry. My least Fav? Jennifer Aniston. Yawn. And Jennifer Lawrence. Looked like a bedspread with matching curtains attached. Yuck!

  2. For me, Naomi Watts absolutely killed it with her dress. Perfection. Period. Not understanding what wasn’t to love about it. I liked, Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidmans dresses but in my opinion it was definitely Naomi. I also loved how Kristin Stewart was a hot mess, and Jennifer Lawrence looked terrific even falling over.
