Well, you didnt think that not having a sewing machine would keep me from sewing, did you? Instead, I took this time to finally try my hand at some English paper piecing hand sewing, something that has been intriguing me for about a year, but that I keep putting off trying.
I brought a small ziploc of supplies with me, some nice thread, new needles, paper hexagons, and a few squares of fabric.
Unfortunately, the instruction book I had wanted to use has been returned to the library, so I searched the internet instead. Also unfortunate was that I currently have one lamp, so the lighting was very bad. My only piece of furniture is my bed, so I used it as a table while I sat on my one and only pillow. Luckily, I do have internet, so I watched Project Runway while I worked.
As you can see I got 2 hexies sewn together and then I became confused, but I have since watched some youtube videos and I think I know how to add more on now . Plus, I think having an iron will help. And scissors with a blade larger than one inch.
Still, its good sometimes to branch out, and attempt to do something with limited resources. Kinda fun, kinda frustrating, but a good learning experience! And now I’m extra excited to have my sewing machine again.
